Motor City Video (“we”, “us”) runs motorcityvhs.com, the website for Motor City Video, The Annual Detroit VHS Fest. This page explains what information the website collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What you send us

Contact form. When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, the type of inquiry you choose and your message. It is delivered to our email inbox and may also be kept in the website’s database. We use it only to answer you and to follow up on what you asked about, such as vendor tables, screenings, sponsorship or press.

Mailing list. If you join the mailing list, we store your email address (and your name, if you give it) with our email provider, Mailchimp (Intuit), to send you news about the fest: dates, venue, vendors, guests, screenings and tickets. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.

What the website collects automatically

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device, browser and the pages you view. We do not use it to identify you personally and we do not run advertising on this site. You can learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Security and hosting. Like most websites, our hosting and security tools record technical information such as IP addresses, browser type and the time of each request. This is used to keep the site running, block spam and stop attacks, and is kept only for as long as needed for that. Our network and security provider, Cloudflare, delivers the site and checks the contact and mailing list forms with its Turnstile tool to tell people from spam bots; that check looks at technical information from your browser and is not used for advertising.

Cookies

Visitors get the Google Analytics cookies described above. People who log in to manage the site also get WordPress login cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services that run the site and our communications: our web host, Google (email and analytics), Mailchimp (mailing list) and our security and network providers (Cloudflare and Wordfence), each under their own privacy terms. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to [email protected] and we will reply as soon as we can.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Questions about it can go to [email protected].
